Now that both the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 have been released and tested, buyers want to know which will give more bang for their buck.
Apple has been under a lot of controversy lately over it's iPhone 5, particularly due to the Maps app, which doesn't necessarily mean it should be a deal breaker for the phone.
So how does the iPhone 5 compare to the GS III? Here is a list with a few features for consumers to decide which phone sounds more promising.
Display:
DisplayMate compared the displays of the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3 and in the end Apple came out above Samsung with the iPhone 5 having better contrast and more accurate colors.
First, DisplayMate notes that Apple smartphones have attempted to always sport the best displays and cameras. It beat out the camera on the Nokia Lumia 920, accordingly, and users are now left wondering how it stacks up to the Galaxy S3.
DisplayMate concluded that the screen on the iPhone 5 is the best they've ever tested on a smartphone.
"We're not really surprised by the fact that the Galaxy S3 was not able to take the win this time because, to be fair, the S3 didn't have the best display on the market even when it came fresh out of the factory gates. At that time the HTC One X held the crown of having the best screen fitted on a smartphone, so in our opinion it would've been more interesting to see the iPhone 5 going against the One X for a change," the article states.
Browser navigation
G 4 Games lined up the devices to test which browsed the Web the fastest.
The tests showed the Galaxy S3 (without flash) yielded faster page loads, followed by the iPhone 5 and then the Galaxy S3 again, this time with flash.
The Galaxy S3 loaded NYTimes.com in 6.8 seconds (3.8 seconds without flash), while the iPhone 5 loaded the page in 7.5 seconds. The S3 loaded IMDB.com in 5.9s (2.6s with no flash), and the iPhone 5 loaded the same page in 5.6 seconds.
On average, the iPhone 5 was about 2 seconds faster than the Galaxy S3, although the Galasy S3 without flash was much faster than the iPhone 5.
Camera
According to Into Mobile, the iPhone 5 had a higher rating when it came to the camera. During the day, the iPhone 5's camera took sharper photos and it faired better in low lighting, but for the most part, the two cameras were equal.
Maps
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple weeks, you should already know the controversy surrounding Apple's Maps app and Google Maps.
iPhone 5 users said Maps lacks key details on prominent cities and has bizarre quirks. In one instance, an entire town was in the wrong location, and some users also found duplicate islands. Google Maps comes out ahead of Apple's Maps. Techies do say this should not be the deciding factor on whether one should purchase an iPhone 5 or not.
Call quality and Battery Life
Into Mobile says call quality on GSIII is slightly worse than on the iPhone 5, sounding fuzzy. On the new iPhone, the calls, the website said, sounded clearer.
As for battery life, the website proclaimed it a tie.
"Battery life is harder to determine because Android measures it differently than iOS does. Honestly, it seems like it'll have to be a tie between the both of them. They are both more than adequate to last throughout a typical day of usage, and even one with heavy usage as well. I want to say that the iPhone 5 maybe lasted just a tad longer, but then again I did play games on the GSIII for a little extra time because I liked the way they looked on its bigger screen."
