Polish game developer CD Projeckt has released the system requirements for its upcoming action role-playing game "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," and it looks like gamers will have to start clearing their hard drives for a hefty install size of 50GB, IGN reported.

"Wild Hunt" is the third game in "The Witcher" series, following "The Witcher" released in 2007 and "Assassins of Kings" in 2011. The franchise is based on the series of fantasy novels of the same name written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, with the events of the games taking place after the end of the novels.

"Wild Hunt" continues to tell the story of the witcher Geralt of Rivia, but if fans want to follow along his adventure, they have to make sure their consoles have enough memory to take it.

It started off as rumors last month, especially after a leak from PlayStation appeared online, but the developers officially confirmed the news to Game Spot on Monday. CD Projekt did not provide the exact details of why the install size is so large, but they stated that 50GB was their probable figure.

It's a bit larger than the PC specs already released last month which required, at the minimum, 40GB as well as an Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz, a Radeon HD 7870, 6GB RAM, 64-bit Win 7 or Win 8, GeForce GTX 660, an AMD Phenom II X4 940 and DX 11.

The memory requirement is pretty large, but Sony has released previous 50GB titles before, namely "The Last of Us: Remastered" and "Killzone: Shadow Fall." "NBA 2K14" by Visual Concepts and "Assassin's Creed Unity" by Ubisoft also required more than 40GB.

As to why CD Projekt needed so big a memory, it was largely due to the game's improved graphics, part of which involves hours of motion capture sex scene, according to PC Gamer.

In total, the developers reportedly created 16 hours' worth of love-making scenes between Geralt and his lady love Yennefer, though of course not all of them are expected to appear on the game. The effort in making it though is pretty impressive, if not excessive.

The developers explained that it was due to lend more believability to the game. More than just the sex scenes, the game is also character-driven and offers a real look into how real people behaved, including their nasty and unpleasant personalities and how their actions affect the outcome of their lives or the game.

The first official trailer for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was revealed during the E3 last year. It was followed by "The Sword of Destiny" trailer in June, "The Killing Monsters" cinematic trailer released in August and the "Elder Blood" trailer released in December.

The game will be launched to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 19, 2015.
