The much awaited Android L 5.0 Lollipop update is now starting to roll out for HTC devices.
HTC on Tuesday announced that the Android update has already started rolling out to HTC One M8 users in Canada. "Your #HTCOneM8 just got sweeter. @TELUS and @Rogersbuzz have begun to roll out the Android Lollipop update!," HTC Canada tweeted.
This was also confirmed by HTC Product Management Vice President Mo Versi himself.
"@Enea77 @HTCCanada Alessandro, we've received technical approval from Rogers this afternoon on M8! OTA will also start tomorrow! Thanks."

However, when users asked if the update will also roll out to HTC One M7 at the same time, HTC said it is still on its way.
"@ohhwhen Thanks for asking. The HTC One (M7) update is also on it's way soon, please stay tuned for updates on our social channels."

HTC One M8 users in Europe and India have also reportedly received the Lollipop update. International Business Times said the update sent to India is 574.17MB while the file sent to Europe is 780MB. The update is expected to arrive in other regions soon. The Lollipop update comes with new lockscreen, material design user interface, new notifications control, and new animations and themes.
You can check if you have already received the update by going into All Apps, then click Settings, then to System Updates, then HTC Software Update, and tap Check Now. Download the update. After download completion, install it by pulling down the Notifications and tapping the System Update. After installation, tap OK to start using the smartphone again.
HTC, through Versi, earlier revealed that they will indeed miss its 90-day goal. HTC promised that it would roll out the Lollipop update after 90 days of receiving the final software from Google. Here are some parts of Versi and HTC's official statement regarding the delay:
"Delivering major Android updates to our flagship phones has been a top priority for us because, just like you, we love having the latest and greatest software as soon as possible. By setting the 90-day goal to deliver these updates a few years ago, we have driven change within our own company as well as in the industry. Today you are seeing updates much sooner even from other OEMs. We also brought a new level of transparency to the process and the ability to track the status of the updates in real time when we launched the software updates page on HTC.com, which is also being replicated by other OEMs.
"In the spirit of continued transparency, I wanted to share a quick update on where we're at with our Android Lollipop rollout process. We've been working hard in the labs with Google and our carrier partners ever since the code release and are making great progress so far, but if you've been following the progress of this rollout you will know that Google has had to address several issues with this release. We've been diligently working to fix some of them on our end and incorporating Google's fixes as quickly as possible, but despite everyone's best efforts some carrier versions of the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) will not meet our 90 day goal, which is February 1st. While we are committed to delivering within this time period, we are even more committed to ensuring these updates result in an even better experience with your device because that is what the updates are intended to do."
