Users of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in the US are finally getting a taste of the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update. However, don't get too excited as only Verizon subscribers are getting it for now.
"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce an operating system update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. This version brings Android beyond smartphones and tablets, allowing access to apps and Android services on other connected screens like TV's, cars and wearables. The new material design offers complex animations, 3-D views and improved runtime," an official statement from the company reads.
Design and Lockscreen
As promised, the new update brings new amazing and very colorful animations, themes, and 3D views. Notice the shortcuts for the Phone and Camera provided on the lockscreen. Expect an improvement on the notifications. Users can now set priorities and privacy on notifications on their lockscreen. Note that the on/off toggle button style has also been updated.
Floating action buttons
The new update also makes it easier for its users to add a new contact or compose a message with the floating action buttons.
Interruptions
Users can now choose from more advanced options in controlling their sound settings on the Interruptions. Users can now also set sounds or vibrations even if the phone is muted when getting priority notifications such as reminders or events. They can also set the downtime for more specific days and times.
