Will the rumored upcoming HTC One M9 device ditch the ultrapixel camera?
According to the recent report of Android Origin, there is a high chance that HTC will no longer use its ultrapixel camera in its upcoming flagship device, the rumored HTC One M9, also known as Hima. This ultrapixel camera, it noted, has quite disappointed many HTC fans due to its low 4 megapixel maximum resolution, which it stressed is clearly unacceptable to any flagship phone.
Though the ultrapixel camera is indeed good in low-light, it is still not enough to encourage people to buy it. With this, it is therefore expected that HTC would no longer use it in its next flagship phone. Instead, it would have a 20.7 megapixel rear camera similar to those used by Sony in its flagship phones. It is also good to note that this camera could also offer optical image stabilization, according to the report.
Aside from this, Android Origin said that the new HTC phone would boast of its superior hardware. It is expected to get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset as processor. and will probably get a 3GB of RAM. It will also get a 32GB of internal storage and will also be available on higher internal storage options. Additionally, it would probably get a microSD card slot to expand the phone's memory. It is also likely be available with the LTE Cat.9 network support, Bluetooth 4.1 version, and a better battery.
In terms of the software, it is likely to get the newest Android update, Android 5.0 Lollipop. It will also come with HTC's very own Sense 7.0 as user interface. Android Origin said this is the first HTC smartphone to get the new UI. The HTC One M8 and other HTC phones are expected to get the new Sense 7.0 UI in a much later date.sAlso, the new Hima is expected to boast of its improved BoomSound stereo speakers. As for the design, it is expected that it would get thinner bezels though it is seen to be slightly thicker than its predecessor. Android Origin also states that the new device might be available on a new color gold.
Meanwhile, Load the Game reported that the soon to be released HTC flagship device might come in two variants. The first type is one that has the new Snapdragon 810 SoC from Qualcomm while the other has a MediaTek processor. The report says that the latter will come cheaper than the former. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
The rumored new HTC flagship device did not show up during the Consumer Electronics Show this year so it is likely that the device would be launched during the Mobile World Congress in March instead.
However, Phone Arena earlier speculated that the device might not be released in these two big events. It noted that the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer already ditched the MWC last year so it is possible that the compay will do the same this year. It however said that it believes that the device will be unveiled in March, but not during the MWC. They also did this with the HTC One M8 when it showcased it at a separate event in New York and London.
