Many are speculating that the iPod Touch 6th Generation would finally show up during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 event in Barcelona, Spain this March. Master Herald says that it was earlier speculated that the new iPod would be unveiled after the Chinese New Year. It says this could mean a March 2015 release date for the device. It also speculated that it would be unveiled together with the new Apple Watch and the new operating system, maybe an update of the iOS 8 or a new iOS 9.

Master Herald claims that Apple may actually have launched the new iPod Touch 6th Generation in 2014, but it did not pushed through with it since Apple really wanted to showcase a "perfect music device" which will definitely outshine its other predecessors. Note that the current iPod Touch 5th Generation was unveiled back in September 2012. So it is expected that the new iPod Touch to be released this year would indeed boast of huge improvements and new features and be a "fully-loaded entertainment device."

What's New?

According to the rumors, the new iPod Touch 6th Generation would just be like the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. How so? This is because it is believed that the device would come in two sizes just like the two new iPhones. Master Herald says the device will have a 5.5 inch version and a 4.7-inch variant.

Other Features

Christian Today said the new iPod will likely to get an A8 processor chip, though there are also those that say that it would probably get a more advanced one, probably an A9 processor. Aside from that, the news outlet also states that it would likely have Apple's new mobile payment service, the Apple Pay.

Colors

As for the colors, it is expected that the new iPod would still have the same colors as its predecessors. This includes space grey, yellow, blue, red, pink, and silver. Though it is also likely that a gold or a white one comes out this year.

Price

As for the price, Master Herald is looking at a $250 16GB Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation. Meanwhile, the price of the 64 GB version could go a little higher to $300 and the 128 GB much more higher than $250. Comparing it to other music devices, Apple's iPod looks much cheaper than Sony's Walkman ZX2 which is priced at $1,200 when it launched during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 event last January.

Target Market

Stabley Times says it is not clear what is Apple's target market for its new iPod. Well, the current iPod's neon plastic colors definitely tells us that they are indeed targeting the youth. While some are raising their eyebrows with the idea of an iPod with iPhone 6 features, Stabley Times' Phil Moore sees this as a way to boost iPod sales and make the device popular again. However, he says that it would definitely not be appealing to adult customers due to lack of LTE-capability.
