Samsung's awaited Galaxy Note 2 has started releasing in international markets to much fanfare and hype. U.S. consumers will have to wait until Samsung launches the Galaxy Note 2 on October 24, but those who have already gotten their hands on the massive 5.5-inch phablet are giving it a thumbs up.
Writer Ahmed Alzayani for TheVerge got his hands on on a Galaxy Note 2 and posted a quick first impression.
"I got my Galaxy Note 2 yesterday, very good first impression," he writes.
Among his impressions, the only negative comment had to do with the glossy back being a fingerprint magnet and a bit hard to open and close. Other than that, it seems the Galaxy Note 2's performance is greatly helped by its incredible 1.6GHz quad-core processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean's smooth interface. He also states that the new and improved S Pen digital stylus is a pleasure to use.
Richard Goodwin from KnowYourMobile also had positive comments about the Galaxy Note 2, although he wasn't as blown away by the S Pen stylus.
"Our only real issue with the Note 2 is that it runs Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top of Android Jelly Bean," Goodwin wrote.
"After spending a few hours running the handset through its paces, it's immediately apparent just how incredible of an upgrade the device is over the first," says jon4lakers on YouTube.
The Galaxy Note 2 also comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. It supports 4G LTE and NFC.
The original Galaxy Note was expected to fail because of its large 5.3-inch screen, but it racked up more than 10 million in sales, proving that consumers enjoyed the phablet.
The sequel is a much more refined version of the Galaxy Note, and is launching to much more hype. Perhaps a tweet says it best:
