'Ori and the Blind Forest' PC, Xbox One Release Date Revealed; New Gameplay Footage Released

To heighten the anticipation of its upcoming adventure game "Ori and the Blind Forest," Moon Studios has unveiled the game's official release date and also shared new gameplay footage showcasing some of the features of the title, Euro Gamer reported.

"Ori and the Blind Forest" is developed by Moon Studios and published by Microsoft Studios. The player takes control of Ori, a white guardian spirit, who was adopted by a bear-like creature. After his mother is taken from him, Ori sets out on an adventure exploring magical lands to try and track her down, as well as save the forest from the dark owl Kuro.

Those who are awaiting Ori's arrival can now pin down an exact date on their calendars as Moon Studios has set a March 11 launch for the game on the Xbox One and PC.

Not only that, but the developers also released the official gameplay trailer of the game, showcasing Ori in the frozen Forlorn Ruins and displaying his gravitational warping skills.

The trailer also shows the dreamlike quality, pretty fantasy graphics and mind bending skills. Gamers will also be interested to note that Ori is able to run along the ceilings and leap towards hard to reach places by jumping on gravity-altering blocks, according to Den of Geek.

Players can also look forward to some of Ori's skills, such as Bash, Double Jump and Wall Jump; his attacks, like the Stomp, Spirit Flame and Charge Flame; and navigation skills, such as Climb and Kuro's Feather, according to IGN.

Other than that, Moon Studios has kept mum on the game, though they promised more features, skills as well as interesting puzzles and a good storyline to entertain gamers.

"Ori and the Blind Forest" was originally announced during E3 2014, and it was a big hit especially after its trailer was shown and its emotional story related to the crowd. However, the game suffered a few delays, being pushed back from November to this year, according to Attack of the Fanboy.

Its delay was a blessing in disguise in a way, especially as the indie game would have ended up going up against some high profile games that were released that month and other holiday games which followed.

The developers ended up having more time to polish and fine tune the game, which will hopefully appease fans given the number of other games this year that have ended up being delayed, unfinished or buggy.

"Ori and the Blind Forest" will come out on March 11 for the Xbox One and PC via Steam for $19.99. There's been no word yet on a version for the Xbox 360, but it's expected to follow later this year.
