Will an Xbox One dashboard with transparent tiles look cool?
Well, it looks like transparent tiles will soon be coming to the platform. According to the report of Neowin, Xbox One dashboard with transparent tiles was recently spotted on Major Nelson's gaming stream. Here's a photo showing the dashboard with transparent tiles. The screenshot came from Reddit user "mkmkd."
Although the transparent tiles gave a "more modern" look to the console's user interface, it seems that it has not provided any added functionality to it, Neowin's Brad Sams notes, basing it solely on the leaked screenshot.
Windows Central notes that Major Nelson or Larry Hryb is Microsoft's Xbox Live programming leader which might mean that he can obviously have the preview version of Xbox One's UI. It also revealed that Microsoft is indeed testing the transparent tiles feature but it might take some time for them to finally release it publicly.
"Since he works on the Xbox team, Hryb likely has a preview version of the Xbox One UI that is not yet available even for people who have signed up to beta test upcoming features for the game console... Keep in mind that even if Microsoft is testing transparent tiles for the Xbox One, it may take a while before that feature is released to the public," to quote Windows Central's John Callaham. Aside from this, Callaham also said that the feature which can enable owners to take screenshots directly from the Xbox One could also arrive this year.
Neowin says that it is likely that owners would be given an option to turn on or off the transparency feature. It also firmly believes that the new feature will be released this month.
Inquisitr speculates that there is also a possibility that the new Xbox One feature will make its debut this month during the unveiling of Microsoft's Windows 10. Last month, it was revealed that the sales of Microsoft's Xbox One has exceeded the 10-million mark. It was even noted that it surpassed Sony's PlayStation 4 monthly sales in the US and the UK.
The International Business Times meanwhile said that details about the new Xbox One feature might be showcased on January 21 during an alleged Windows 10 event at the Redmond campus. It also said that it has been teased some details about the Xbox app, which allegedly acts as a "gateway" to connect the Windows 10 to Xbox activity. IBT says this would probably mean that users will get access to the Store, activity feeds, friends section and others. However, the report stated that although the alleged Xbox app integration is still on its "early stages", one can definitely expect upgrades and improvements.
