Will the LG G2 finally get its Lollipop update?
According to the December 27 report of the Christian Today, the update will soon likely hit LG G2 devices as G3 users have finally tasted the Android L 5.0 Lollipop update.
This claim became even stronger after a photo of the device running the Android 5.0.1 leaked online. Here's the leaked photo showcasing the device with software version F320L28d running a 5.0.1 Android version.
However, this particular unit, GSM Arena said, is an LTE-A model exclusive to South Korea. This likely means that the update might actually first roll out in South Korea -- on the domestic market first before penetrating other markets. The report noted that this theory is reasonable and understandable. Despite this, GSM Arena believes that the update will be made available to other G2 users in other countries shortly after rolling it out to South Korea.
As for predictions, Load the Game believes the Lollipop update might finally be released for the LG G2 this January. It however did not provide details as to which areas or countries will get it first.
"With Android Lollipop on board, the smartphone will look brand new (well, at least from the software point of view). As you can see, Android 5.0 is coated with LG's own UI paint here, which made a cameo with the G3, so your phone will indeed feel reborn when Lollipop hits it," Phone Arena said.
LG G2's successor and the firm's current flagship device G3 has finally received the new OS last year. It however was only limited to those based in Poland. LG G3 users in the United States have yet to receive the update but it is believed that they will also soon get it. LG's company president and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said in a statement that the electronics giant vows to give its consumers the best mobile experiences through rolling out the Lollipop update to its users sooner. He added that the update will really give improvements to its handsets.
LG G3 users in several other countries have also finally received the update. The list includes France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal, Ubergizmo said. The report also said that the update will soon hit other countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, and Taiwan. Also included in the list are LG G3 users in India, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, and UK.
LG has yet to confirm the rumors about the G2 device getting the new Lollipop update.
