Although Microsoft has just released Surface Pro 3 in June, current rumors are now suggesting that its successor is already on its way.
The International Business Times predicts that the device will come out next year. It added that the tablet might come in two variants or sizes.
Christian Today also confirmed this report, saying that the Surface Pro 3 might be available in an 8-inch screen and one with a 14-inch screen.
The same report said that rumors about the new tablet arose when the current Microsoft Surface Pro 3 gained praises, keeping its market strength strong and intact.
One of the expectations of fans for the new tablet, the report said, is a new and more powerful processor. "Intel has introduced its energy-saving Core M processors that do away with the cooling fans implanted in computers. With their timely launching, chances of having them under Surface Pro 4's hood are big," Christian Today said. This in turn will result in a "sleek" and "classy" tablet.
It also said that the timing suggests that the new device might be the first gadget to have the Windows 10 as its operating system. It added that there is also a possibility that the launch of the new device will coincide with the Windows 10 release.
The rumors are actually quite confusing as a previous report from Christian Today dated December claimed that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 might be in 8 inches and in 13 inches variants. Microsoft has not yet issued a comment regarding the rumors and speculations.
The report noted that the 8-inch variant is obviously made to rival with Apple's iPad Mini and with other Android tablets.
The same report said that the Microsoft tablet is also expected to get a larger RAM aside from the powerful processor. The current Surface Pro 3 has 8 GB RAM and 4th generation Intel Core processors i3, i5 and i7. Aside from these, the 12-inch Surface Pro 3 has a full HD display with a 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution
Master Herald said that the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 might be considered as a "taplet" as it is more of a laptop and tablet packed into one.
"Some of the rumors for the next version of the tablet from Microsoft include a term that has been picking up steam by those that are using the Surface Pro series from Microsoft. The new term is "laplet", which is, of course a combination of laptop and tablet since the majority of users that have the Surface Pro series use it with the attachable keyboard. The Surface Pro series can run desktop apps, as well as tablet apps, making it very user friendly and partly the reason the sales have started to climb," to quote Master Herald's report.
The price of the new device is still unknown but Christian Today is suggesting that it will be ranging around or even higher than the price of its predecessor Surface Pro 3 which is between $800 to $1,400.
