The recent iPhone 5 mania has everybody's eyes back on Apple after Samsung stole the spotlight with its Galaxy S3 earlier this year. But make no mistake, Samsung is taking note. After keeping silent on release dates, pricing, and carriers, Samsung is finally opening up.
The latest news comes from SamMobile, which has released time frames for the Galaxy Note 2 release in some European countries.
Here they are:
France October 1-2
Germany September 27
Italy September 28
Netherlands October 1-2
United Kingdom October 1-2
These are earlier than the initial pre-orders indicated, so that should be good news.
SamMobile also states that the suggested retail price for the Galaxy Note 2 is 699 euros, or $906. This is quite expensive, but keep in mind that this is the unlocked Galaxy Note 2 price.
Consumers in the United States will have to wait, however, until November for the Galaxy Note 2.
Samsung finally revealed that the United States will be getting the Galaxy Note 2 in mid-November through the same five carriers that offered the Galaxy S3 when it launched. This means AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular customers can all look forward to the powerful phablet. There is still no word on U.S. pricing other than that it will be left to the carriers.
U.S. consumers will also get the same Galaxy Note 2 as their international brethren, which is good news since it will be the first quad-core 4G LTE phone in the United States, according to CNET.
Somewhere in between a phone and a tablet, the Galaxy Note 2 boasts a massive 5.55-inch HD Super AMOLED display. Underneath the hood, it will host a 1.6GHz quad-core processor running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It will also feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.
And let's not forget the S Pen stylus. The ace-in-the-hole for the Galaxy Note series, the S Pen allows users to turn their handset into a digital notepad. Samsung is pushing the S Pen's ability to allow users to "Be Creative."
The Galaxy Note 2 will be available in both Titanium Gray and Marble White when it is launched. Will you be picking up the Galaxy Note 2? If so, why?
