Samsung Electronics will release a new roster of smartphones which includes the alleged new flagship device Galaxy S6 amid the company's declining profits brought by lower phone sales.
The Korean electronics giant earlier announced that it is mulling to "overhaul" its mobile line up after seeing its third quarter net profit to plummet to its "lowest in more than three years," The Associated Press reported.
It said that despite Samsung's fast-paced releasing of new handsets to cater to the needs of different kinds of people around the world, the company has continuously saw its earnings drop. It points out that the decline was primarily due to "lukewarm" sales of its current flagship device Samsung Galaxy S5. The declining profits were also associated with the booming market of cheaper local brands of phones in China and India.
To be able to get back on track, the company has announced that it is planning to employ a different strategy and to "seek more efficiency" which may indicate a reduction in the number of new phone models, AP noted. This new move, the report says, might give Samsung the focus on each product and allow them to save costs.
One of the new handsets believed to boost the company's profits is the rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 which is widely known for the so called "Project Zero."
The alleged "Project Zero" was first reported by Sam Mobile several weeks ago. It says that according to some "sources" the company is now embarking on this new project to pave the way for this new era of smartphones, particularly this new flagship device that little has been known.
The project's name, Sam Mobile's unidentified source revealed, indicates Samsung's plan to create the new device out of nothing or from "scratch" on an "entirely new vision."
Although Samsung has not yet revealed any details about the new device, several rumors and leaked images about how it will look like have circulated online.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 will allegedly be a 5.5-inch phone with quad HD display and screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, a leaked image from Chinese site CNMO was cited by Valuewalk.
It added that the photo revealed that the new device will be equipped with a 64-bit, octa-core Exynos 7420 processor. As for the camera, it is seen to contain a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.
Samsung Galaxy S6 is also expected to get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update as its operating system. It will have a 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
The device dubbed as "the next big thing" will allegedly be launched with a curved display variant which will be called Galaxy S6 Edge, another exclusive report from Sam Mobile claimed.
There is still no definite timeframe for the release of the new device but the International Business Times noted that several reports have claimed that it would be released by February or by March next year.
