Accessories for the iPhone 5 are heavily underway, either by Apple or independent businesses.
One of the anticipated accessories are Apple's newest headphones, the EarPods.
It took Apple three years to finalize the latest headphones and early reviews are positives, praising the level of sounds, but negative reviews are stemming from the headphones not fitting correctly despite 124 different prototypes and tests with about 600 people. (See early reviews on the EarPods here).
The EarPods have been designed, according to Apple, for deeper and richer bass tones, protection from sweat and water, and control music and video playback.

Another accessory one should consider is a case and screen protector for the iPhone 5.
Proporta is following with their motto, "Everything Covered," wth a variety of cases such as a leather case with aluminum lning and have specials offering a free screen protector for some products.

To further protect your iPhone, Make Direct is offering hardwood cases, customed for the iPhone 5. With prices ranging between $59 to $109, the wooden cases can be purchased here.
An accessory directly from Apple is the Lightning dock connector. It's a mandatory buy since the new iPhone's dock connector no longer is with 30-pins, but only eight. Lightning helps connect a 30-pin connector to the eight at only $29. It might be a small charge but it's something some Apple fans believe should come automatically with the iPhone 5 when purchased.
As the Los Angeles Times reported, Apple commented that Lightning will not be compatible with every single device such as speakers with docks and car chargers. This gives independent businesses an opportunity to create a device that can make the eight-pin connector compatible to such devices.

The iPhone 5's official release date is Sept. 21 for the US, UK, and Canada (which provides free EarPods), and prices range from $199 for 16GB. $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB when signing a contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon.
