The explosive action game "Sunset Overdrive," developed exclusively by Insomniac for Xbox One, will become available in the U.S. on October 28 and in Europe on October 31.
Gamespot confirmed the release date during an interview with the game's creative director, Marcus Smith, during the ongoing EB Expo 2014 in Sydney, Australia.
"From any individual screenshot, 'Sunset Overdrive' appears to be a hyperkinetic explosion of colour. But in motion, the colourful exterior is something akin to a pinball machine," Smith was quoted as saying in another report of Gamespot.
Smith shares during the EB Expo 2014 that the gameplay of "Sunset Overdrive" is based on momentum.
Players begin the game by starting with unlocking gameplay parts. They get into fights and in the process build up their style meter. Players must also unlock amps while continuing to build their style meter further.
While the player is doing all of these tasks, there are explosions everywhere and chaos is all around, which was a result of the player's inputs. That makes the game rewarding because there are just too many random stuff happening, explains Smith to Gamespot.
The creative director also disclosed that "Sunset Overdrive" is the opposite of the multi-awarded "The Last of Us", an action-adventure survival horror game released on June 2013 for PlayStation 3. The game has since sold over seven million units worldwide.
Here are five exciting reasons to buy "Sunset Overdrive" when it hits retail stores:
1. The game is easy to learn and to master
Even novice players can pull off awesome moves or actions with hardly any difficulty. Smith even compares "Sunset Overdrive" to Pinball, but players can learn the former faster even without practice, notes Gamespot.
2. It features HUD or heads-up display
HUD keeps the player informed and his status on the game. "There are games that tried to eliminate the HUD but such feature is how you get a lot of information," Smith was quoted as saying to Gamespot.
3. Fast travel
The open-world game features fast travel to cut the players a bit of slack on his mission and objectives for the game. It's called time warp in other video games.
4. Superb animation and resolution
With a 900-pixel resolution, 30-frames per second video frequency, "Sunset Overdrive" further breaths real-life movements to an already superb animation.
5. Extremely colourful and action-packed
Apart from being colourful, there is never a dull moment to "Sunset Overdrive" as far as movement and game sequences are concerned. It is really bombastic from start to finish.
