Dean Hall's open-world zombie game "DayZ" is coming soon to Xbox One. The game creator confirmed recently that his popular survival horror game will become a multi-platform title.
"DayZ is definitely going to be a multiplatform title. That's the firm vision from Bohemia's standpoint. But we'll announce what all the other platforms are as we get to that point," reveals Hall in Eurogamer.
Bohemian Interactive is the developer of "DayZ".
Playstation 4 is the only official console platform for "DayZ" since August 2014. In a report by Yahoo! News, Hall was quoted saying that the he was sure that the game won't be exclusive to PS4 for its console release.
The site also noted that the game was announced during Sony's Gamescom briefing in August. Hall, however, was quick to say that: "Just because the game was announced on Sony's stage, it doesn't necessarily mean the game is exclusive to PlayStation."
Originally, a PC survival horror game, it officially jumped into PlayStation 4 as its first console version.
"The studio did not just want to port DayZ to consoles, but wants to take advantage of each platform's respective strengths," Hall said in a report by Gamespot.
Gamespot also reported that the prospect of "DayZ" going into other platforms came to be when Hall broached the idea early this year. He revealed that he has spoken with Microsoft about bringing it to Xbox One but Sony was a bit quicker in the draw and the game came out first in PlayStation 4.
While Hall did not disclose any specific release date for "DayZ" on Xbox One, he cited that it would really depend on whether the game would be an Early Access-type release or not. He hinted however that a 2015 release is likely.
"There's a lot of problems with Early Access on PC that definitely are at the forefront of people's minds. So the release would depend very much on what Sony offers in terms of whether it is going to do an Early Access program for it," Hall said in a report by VG24/7.
"If 'DayZ' were to be successful on a console, the user interface would have to be overhauled to be usable on a controller, without undermining the complexity and freedom the game currently enjoys on PC. Hall is aware of that and plans to play to the strengths of consoles," the report added.
Since June last year, the "DayZ" creator has always been keen on the idea of bringing the video game to consoles, eyeing PlayStation 4 in particular.
But when Microsoft communicated to him about its ID@Xbox program, coupled with the amiable Phil Spencer taking the helm of the Xbox division of the company, Hall began to visualize the possibility of his video game hitting the Xbox One consoles ahead of PS4, disclosed VG24/7.
