You're so sneaky, Hideo Kojima.
According to a Polygon report, the PT playable demo that Sony debuted at this year's Gamescon, which was also released earlier today on the PlayStation Store was a preview for a new game. The new game is a collaboration between Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro, who has since gave us cinematic gems like "Pan's Labyrinth," "Mama" and the "Hellboy" series.
The new video features one of the most popular faces on television today. Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon on the AMC series "The Walking Dead" was eery in the video, E! Online said. Business Insider suggested that the faint-hearted might want to skip on watching the sneak peak, and even Sony, who is behind the release, issued caution to fans who are curious about the teaser video.
Polygon said that the new game is called "Silent Hills," which is based on a title card backed by the "Silent Hill" theme of Akira Yamaoka. The tactic was employed in similar fashion by Kpjima when he announced "The Phantom Pain" under a pseudonym named "Moby Dick Studios." Gamers and fans of the "Metal Gear" franchise discovered that it was actually the teaser for the game "Metal Gear Solid 5."
Metro said during the Gamescon that Kojima was playing coy about the official reveal of "Silent Hills," but he did say a lot about his collaboration with del Toro.
He was quoted as saying, "The one thing that I can say about Silent Hills, and this is something I've been discussing with Guillermo del Toro as well, is that originally we were thinking of making a game that would make you pee your pants, but at this point we've changed our minds, and now we're aiming for a game that will make you s*** your pants. One thing that you have to keep in mind is that, if a game is too scary, people just won't play it. If it gets too scary you just keep your eyes shut and soon it will be over. But if it's a game, people will just stop. So that's why there's a limit on how scary you can make a game. But in this case we're totally ignoring that and, you know what? If you don't want to keep on playing through the game, so be it. We don't care. That's the game we are aiming for."
He also said that the game would be solely developed by his own Kojima Productions, unlike the previous "Silent Hill" games.
If you are brave enough, you can download the 1.3 GB scary "PT" teaser from the PlayStation Store beginning today.
