Although we've just gone past the middle of this year, a number of stellar Android tablets have earned five star approvals from various gadget reviewers. If you're planning to get yourself a new model or own your very first one, check out this list of the best Android tablets of 2014 before you finalize your choice.
Ever since this 7-inch model came out back in 2012, it has never been absent from most, if not all, "best tablet" lists. Its second generation, released July 2013, is no different, as it now has new and improved features. "The screen resolution has been bumped up to 1,920 x 1,200, the Tegra 3 processor has been replaced with a Qualcomm snapdragon S4 Pro CPU and there's now a 5-megapixel main camera," Time noted. "It's more expensive than the original at £199 but it still looks great and offers a zippy performance."
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5
The South Korea-based firm has managed to deliver tablet models that put a smile on mobile users' faces, one of them being this 10.5 inch version. "Samsung has taken the best of its OS and technology ability, fused them with the best display on a tablet and created something pretty special," TechRadar observed. This model is perfect for movie buffs due to its superb screen resolution.
LG G Pad 8.3
This is probably the best 8-inch Android-powered tab under $350, according to Trusted Reviews. "While it might not get the same attention as a Samsung or Apple tablet it actually manages to pack solid performance and a good display into a very pocket friendly price," the site added. "It does a great job of being a tablet that's well suited to watching movies or browsing the internet at just half the price."
Sony Xperia Z2
This model has "a massively uprated Snapdragon 801 CPU, 3GB of RAM and an all-new Live Color LED screen that brings vibrancy and contrast to what you're watching," according to TechRadar. Aside from being dust and water resistant, its "video is also improved thanks to the dual front-facing speakers, meaning you can ditch the headphones when watching in a hotel room and still get a decent experience." It's also very light and thin for a 10 incher.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7
Looking for a tab that's perfect for kids? Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX 7 it is. "Slimmer and lighter than last year's Kindle Fire, the HDX 7 features a nice, bright 1,920 x 1,200 resolution screen," Trusted Reviews said. "It still runs on an unrecognisable version of Android that in its latest iteration actually makes the HDX 7 a really easy to use tablet. There's the new Mayday feature that aims to answer calls for any queries you have in under 15 seconds."
