A slew of games are targeted for release on the PlayStation 4 this month and a few are highly anticipated by gamers everywhere.
"Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition" is targeted for release on August 19 for the PS4, as well as the Xbox. Those who decide to pre-order digitally via the PlayStation Network will get some PS4 and PS3 add-ons pertaining to other games in Sony's rich catalog.
Joystiq.com reports that "Shadow of the Colossus" was the inspiration for the "Guise of the Colossi" add-on, allowing plays to transform armor into six human-sized avatars from the said game. Meanwhile, fans of the apocalyptic survival game "The Last of Us" might recognize some infected enemies from that Naughty Dog game in an entirely new dungeon in what has been labelled "The Last of Us Nephalem Rift."
The anticipation for this Xbox One, PS3, and PS4 port of the fastest-selling PC game ever will undoubtedly reach a crescendo as the release date approaches, even as digital pre-orders will offer other non-Sony themed perks. These include three extra character slots, the "Infernal Pauldrons" shoulder gear which will boost stats before a game even begins, the "Liber Canis Mortui" scroll for summoning a trusty hellhound by your side, and two sets of recipes for transforming your weapons and armor, namely the "Arma Haereticorum" and "Arma Mortis."
Meanwhile, the PS4 expansion pack for "InFamous: Second Son" will release as a digital download on August 26 with "InFamous: First Light." Following the events of "Second Son" that transformed Abigail "Fetch" Walker into a conduit, players will now experience the events which led to her change. According to VG 24/7, there will be new playable environments such as Curdun Cay, and the ability to revisit Seattle.
Previous owners of "Second Son" will also be rewarded with exclusive content, although Eurogamer.net clarifies that you don't need "Second Son" to play "First Light." It will also be available as a standalone PS4 Blu-ray disc released by September of this year.
Over on the sports game front, the 26th edition of EA Sports' hugely popular Madden NFL franchise has also targeted August 26 as a release date. "Madden NFL 15" features controversial Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman from the reigning Super Bowl champions on the cover.
Game developer EA Tiburon has retooled tackling in this year's game and introduced a "tackle cone" to emphasize timing when executing a proper tackle. Polygon.com notes that gameplay creative director Rex Dickson and Tiburon worked to make defensive backs smarter in coverage in terms of anticipating throws, disguising coverage schemes, and more.
"Madden NFL 15" will be even more welcoming to those not as familiar with "America's passion" courtesy of a more comprehensive set of tutorials.
