A new era of combat is here. That's the promise of game developer Activision as it launches the latest installment in its immensely popular first-person shooter series, "Call of Duty".
Before taking on a new challenge in "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare", Activision has announced some bonuses that will come with three Collector's Editions that will be available for "Advanced Warfare", reports IGN.
Taking their names from the game's Atlas Corporation, both the Atlas Pro Edition and Atlas Limited Edition can already be pre-ordered. Meanwhile, the Atlas Digital Pro Edition will be available in the near future.
Priced at ₤69.99, the Atlas Limited Edition includes the Atlas Gorge bonus multiplayer map (a remake of the "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" Pipeline map taking into consideration Exoskeleton abilities), the collectible SteelBook titled "Welcome to Atlas: Advanced Soldier Manual," and the Atlas Digital Content Pack (a collection of digital content including the Atlas Exoskeleton, the Bal-27 AE Assault Rifle and Atlas 45 AE Pistol, helmet, player card, five bonus supply drops, and a token for an extra Exo upgrade in single player campaign).
The Atlas Pro Edition includes everything in the Atlas Limited Edition, as well as the Advanced Warfare Season Pass (including a set of four maps) and is priced at ₤99.99 The soon-to-arrive Digital Pro Edition is priced at ₤89.99 has all the digital content in the Limited Edition but also includes an Atlas Digital Edition Personalization Pack to make up for the lack of a SteelBook.
Metro reports that "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" is set further in the future than any previous editions of the popular game franchise and includes high tech power suits, drones, and robots.
Video game developer, Sledgehammer Games, notes that "Advanced Warfare" has a plot featuring private armies with vague moral codes and soldiers who themselves are wary of the actions they are taking. The plot, as well as the many add-ons in the Collected Editions, are part of Sledgehammer's goal to differentiate "Advanced Warfare" from any previous "Call of Duty" volume.
Eurogamer.net notes the official blurb: "The Atlas Corporation has commandeered the world's largest power source, the Three Gorges Dam in central China, creating a gripping setting for a multiplayer battle. Combatants will navigate the shadows and control a map-based turret scorestreak that overlooks the dam and helps to keep enemies at bay, all while leveraging new abilities and tactics enabled by exoskeleton technology, such as vertical combat, new sightlines, and strategic vantage points."
The boss of Atlas Corporation will be voiced by award-winning actor Kevin Spacey.
