Gamers, rejoice! Last year's NBA Live 14 will soon be a thing of the past; the new and improved NBA Live 15 is the game to play this year!
You'll be happy to know that the new version "looks so much better than the woeful looking NBA Live 14," Attack of the Fanboy observed.
"When NBA Live 14 came out last year, one of the main things people criticized was the fake looking graphics," the site said. "The game debuted on the newer PS4 and Xbox One systems last year, but looked more like PS3 and Xbox 360 games instead."
However, this time, the same cannot be said of the new edition, as also explained by the game's art director Paul Kashuk.
"What we're really aiming for is a photorealistic simulation of what you see when you're watching an NBA broadcast," he said, according to Polygon.
Kashuk also said the process began with the facial scanning technology used to recreate the athletes in last year's version. The new one will "include more precise details," including gear and player uniforms, among others. Even the lighting system has been tweaked.
"While the players on the court may be the first thing you notice, there are lots of other little things that make up the atmosphere of the court and the arena," EA Sports said in an update. "We've made it a point to pay attention to those little touches, and breathe more personality into the shot clock, the rim, and even the stanchion."
"Separately it may not seem like much; but when you see all these pieces together, it just makes the game as a whole look better," the game maker added.
"You can really tell a lot of work has been done to ensure the character models look more realistic," Attack of the Fanboy opined. "The players don't look like plastic action figures like in NBA Live 14."
"NBA Live 14 players who downloaded the title update in February have already gotten the chance to see some of these improvements in action," Polygon added.
"We're continuing down that path in NBA Live 15, using these new lights to better showcase our players and arenas. This look really helps out bring the nuances in each player, and we're very pleased with the improvement it offers over our previous lighting system," EA Sports continued.
Polygon said that NBA Live 15 will be out October 7th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Expect more updates and info on the gameplay in August.
