Recently, EA revealed details about the Battlefield 4 Dragon's Teeth expansion pack, which will be released summer 2014.
"Four multiplayer maps form part of the package, each set in dense Asian Pacific cities and encouraging urban warfare. They are: Lumphini Garden, Pearl Market, Propaganda, and Sunken Dragon," IGN noted. "Five new weapons are also on the way, along with a Ballistic shield gadget, R.A.W.R. heavily armoured remotely operated ground vehicle and the new Chain Link game mode, which tasks you with capturing connected points to score."
Sounds like fans of the game will have a lot of meat to sink their gaming teeth - or fingers - into. What's more, Battlefield 4 Premium members will be able to get into Dragon's Teeth two weeks early.
So, what should players expect from this expansion?
According to Polygon, Dragon's Teeth "lets players get super destructive, from trying to kill each other in a floating restaurant to draining a lake for a frontal vehicle assault." In addition, "the new environments involve urban combat across Asian cities, through alleyways, the rooftops of Pearl Market and on canals 'in the pristine park to get the upper hand in the battle of Lumphini Garden,'" the site added.
Not only that, there will also be 10 new assignments to complete, aside from the Chain Link game mode.
Joystiq has also provided some descriptions about the four new maps in the said expansion: "Propaganda, a map with towering statues of despots, Pearl Market, a square split between alleyways and rooftops, Lumphini Garden, a space filled with personal-watercraft-friendly canals, and Sunken Dragon, which lets forces fight in a floating restaurant or just drain the lake it's presumably floating in."
Right now, there's been no word on the price of the expansion. However, based on previously released packs, it appears the upcoming one may also be priced at $15, more or less. If you're raring to play the expansion, go for a Battlefield 4 Premium membership.
Dragon's Teeth will be the game's fourth expansion and will be followed by Final Stand, which will effectively be the last one and is also slated for a summer release this same year, according to Eurogamer.
Previously, it can be recalled that EA chief Andrew Wilson confessed that Battlefield 4's launch was "unacceptable," as it came out with some hitches.
"For the team it was unacceptable. We have worked tirelessly since then to make sure the gameplay experience got to where it absolutely should have been at launch and we're focused on that and we continue to deliver value to that player base," he said, as quoted by Joystiq. However, the CEO had also said that the company cannot guarantee that future releases will be bug-free, as it will mean "we were never going to push the boundaries again."
"I don't want to be that company," Wilson revealed. "I want to be a company that pushes to lead and innovate and be creative. But you can start to do things that give you a better handle and a better view about what the potential challenges might be."
