Usually Apple Inc. releases new devices during the months of September to October but recent rumors infer that the highly-anticipated iPhone 6 may be up for sale earlier than predicted.
Yahoo! summarized recent reports by both The China Post and Taipei Times as evidence suggesting that "Apple's 2014 iPhones could be released earlier than expected."
Both China based media sources claim that Taiwanese company Catcher Technology is believed to have secured the majority of the supply contract for the metal casings for the next-gen iPhone 6, approximately 10.5 million casings for the iPhone 6 and 20 million for the older, already released iPhone models.
"Barclays Capital also sees Catcher as one of the iPhone 6 metal casing suppliers, and expects the iPhone 6 to be launched in the second half of the year. Barclays also thinks that new iPhone shipments will be 35% to 40% higher than iPhone 5s shipments following launch, saying Catcher will be responsible for 10% to 20% of casings for the handset," writes BGR.
According to Apple Insider, Apply Inc. Is looking to increase its sales of the new iPhone and with that, Catcher is expected to increase its production by a whole 20 to 40 percent to meet the anticipated demand of the much-awaited smartphone.
Analysts predict that based on the rumors circulating, the smartphone giant is looking to ship approximately 70 million iPhones for 2014 alone.
Catcher Technology, a company based in Suzhou province in China has been the casing and Unibody shells supplier for various other products under Apple Inc., like its Mac computers and the iPad tablet, reports iDownload.
Some of the rumored features and upgrades to be included in the new iPhone include an enhanced A8 processor, Touch ID finger sensor and ramped-up graphics and resolution. Rumors are also saying that a two-sized iPhone 6 may be underway, one of 4.7 inches in display size and another as a 5.5 inch phablet.
