It appears that Spidey will not be coming to the Xbox One as previously scheduled.
According to MCV, Activision has confirmed that the Xbox One version of "The Amazing Spider-man 2" has been assigned an indefinite release date. "We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One," reads a release schedule update obtained by the outlet. "When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD."
NeoGAF first noticed that the title's Xbox One version seems to have been banished from its official site. "The [Xbox One] version seems to have been pulled from the [official] site and there is no longer and option to preorder it, the [Xbox One] cover is also no longer to be seen on the [official] site," reads the post. However, GameRant notes that the Xbox One version of "The Amazing Spider-man 2" is still available for pre-order through other retailers.
The game publisher has not provided any reason or any further details regarding the sudden change in release date for the Xbox One title. Activision reached out to IGN, saying "We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One. Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on April 29, 2014 as previously announced."
Hannah Shaw-Williams of GameRant says that the delay might be of harm to the Xbox-maker. "With Xbox One sales currently lagging behind the PS4 (and Sony having just announced 7 million PS4 units sold), Microsoft really can't afford to lose third party releases on its current-gen console like this, especially in the crucial first year of the Xbox One's release," she said in the report.
The action-adventure game will reportedly revolve around Spider-man's hunt for Uncle Ben's murderer and will also allow gamers to play as the web slinger's alter-ego, Peter Parker, says Activision.
