Want a lamp that can be controlled via your mobile phone? Techday said LG unveiled its latest attempt to gain traction in the industry of smart devices with its new Smart Lamp.
Endgadget said that the 10W LED lightbulb allows Android and iOS smartphone users to control their preferred illumination via a smartphone app. The lightbulb also allows users to create a schedule for the bulb to light up, which users could set up for a couple of tricks.
Techday said that the Smart Lamp's Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity features could have users turn a lamp on in just a section of a home, and ave it serve as a personal alarm clock. Slash Gear said, however, that users would need to have smartphones equipped with Android OS version 4.3 and higher or iOS version 6.0 and up in order to set the Smart Lamp.
Aside from presetting a section of a home or a lamp outfitted with the LG lightbulb, users could set the Lamp on security mode, perfect for tricking neighbors or potential thieves from making untimely visits to your home. The Smart Lamp could also be set up as an alternative ringer for your phone, especially if you don't want children, sleeping babies or anyone waking up at night. For Android users, they could use the Smart Lamp to set the town of a burgeoning party as they could set the bulb to pulse along with the music's beat via the Play Mode.
Slash Gear said the low-wattage bulb is energy-efficient too. At 80% more energy-friendly than that of a typical incandescent bulb, having these in your home could help stave off those pesky electric bills. The bulb also lasts for around a decade if being used for an average of five hours daily. However, like any pioneer products of a company, the LG Smart Lamp is a bit pricey for a regular consumer. Endgadget said the smart lightbulb retails for 35,000 won or $32 in Korea.
