Samsung has announced that it is making its wildly popular Galaxy SIII phone model available in four new colors, which the company says are inspired by some of "the Earth's richest materials" found in nature.
The Galaxy phones will soon be available in "Amber Brown," "Garnet Red," "Sapphire Black," and "Titanium Gray," as well as the traditional and already existing "Pebble Blue" and "Marble White."
Samsung says its Amber Brown offering is inspired by the "unique gem, which was believed to sustain the secrets of the Earth inside it." The Garnet Red option is inspired by the Almandite Garnet, which "was worn as an amulet by the ancient Egyptians who believed the stone contained protective powers." "Sapphire Black is inspired by the stones used by the ancient people of India and Persia for protection, with the belief they strengthened one's willpower." Lastly, the Titanium Gray offering is inspired by the color gray as a symbol for "intelligence, insight and curiosity," according to a recent press release from the company.
The release date for these new colors is still under wraps and reports say availability will differ by country, region and mobile phone carrier. Among the U.S. carriers that Samsung is offering the S3 through are AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless. Reports confirm that the Garnet Red option will be offered solely by AT&T and it is the only one of the new colors that is currently available for purchase.
The Galaxy S3 will still be the same phone we all know and love, with 4.8 inch super AMOLED HD screen with 1280x720 resolution, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2 GB RAM, 4G LTE support and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
