The Metal Gear saga continues with its 5th release entitled "Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain". The original game, Metal Gear, was released in 1987. The player takes control of a special forces operative Solid Snake who is assigned to find the titular super weapon "Metal Gear", a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons.
According to Gamingbolt, in this newest installment, Director Hideo Kojima reveals in his Twitter account that his use of a single camera shot for the open world stealth gameplay was inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock classic movie "Rope". His objective was to allow consistency in order to maintain a feeling of continuity in an open world.
Kojima states, "Saw 'Rope' by Hitchcock. 'MGSV' uses almost 1 camera shot b/w cutscene & gameplay. 'Rope' was experimental movie created 65 years ago. W/o digital technology back then, instead used close-ups of the back or lid in every 10 min. Interesting gimmicks outside of the window too."
"Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" can be purchased early from the Konami Style store. Gamers that do are entitled to early adopter bonus items. These bonuses include a smartphone holder in the form of a cassette tape case with the cassette tape being a paper notepad. But it should be noted though that this does not fit all smartphones. Downloadable content (DLC) is also available in store as well as a number of reversible game covers.
But even more exciting is the new Snake Metallic action figure from PlayArts which comes bundled with the Japanese Special Edition of the game, while another version of Snake comes from Revoltech, according to Gameranx.
"Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" releases for multiple platforms on March 18th in North America and March 20th in Europe for Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360.
