According to The Guardian, "the Consumer Electronics Show is an annual lovefest between inventors and the gadgetry enthusiasts who love them." For the rest of humanity, it's a huge international trade show that showcases all things electronic and technological - from new inventions to improvements of existing ones. It's also an event that some tech industry juggernauts use as a venue for making important announcements or product launches.

It's also one affair where you can find a variety of "odd and crazy technologies," CNN said. Here are 5 of them.

Mother

This device looks like a hybrid of a Matryoshka doll and EVE from that CGI movie 'WALL-E'. Its "Mother Knows Everything" tagline sounds like it's something out of a Hitchcock movie. But what it really means is that it's a small gadget that has 24 sensors or "cookies" and can track the status, location, and temperature of anything or anyone in a house.

The Mobile QWERTY Keyboard

TrewGrip created an ergonomic, hand-held keyboard that you can work with without even looking at the keys. It's designed for mobile devices and can be connected via Bluetooth. Its makers also reassured that the unusual key arrangement is "easy to learn" since letter order is the same, plus there's a "light-up guide" to help users transition to this new gadget.

June

This is one of those wearable technology featured in CES. On the outside, it looks like "a sparkly piece of costume jewelry" that can be attached to double-wrap leather bracelets or even on clothing. Inside, it's a UV sensor that can monitor sun exposure and sunblock usage, among other details. It can even advice the wearer to avoid taking in too much sun.

Jumping Sumo

Parrot designed this robot to go up into the air at impressive heights and zoom about at speeds close to 14 feet per second. It can also perform tricks and is equipped with a built-in camera. What a toy.

Panasonic Nanoe Hairdryer

This product is a paradox - it can dry your hair without really drying it out. Wait, let's try again - it can give you a great blowout without drying your hair. Umm, how about this - it can add moisture to your hair while blowing it into shape. Better now? At least that's how CNET described this personal care tool.
