HTC One owners in America were the first to receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but the quick release came at a price: there was no new Sense 5.5 included. HTC has now come out and confirmed that the new user interface will roll out with Android 4.4 KitKat to American HTC Ones by the end of January.

The news that Android 4.4 KitKat will be pushed out by the end of January isn't new information, but the tidbit about Sense 5.5 being included is. Soon after Google unveil KitKat Oct. 31, HTC announced that it planned on having all U.S. HTC Ones (carrier variants and all) running the new operating system within 90 days. A quick look at the calendar reveals that to be the end of January.
Sense 5.5 will build upon many of the features introduced in Sense 5.0, which is what U.S. HTC Ones (barring the Google Play edition) run. Users will finally have the option of turning off Blinkfeed, which has been upgraded to integrate content from more sources than before. Sense 5.5 also brings improvements to Video Highlights as well as the HTC One's camera.
In other HTC One update news, the Google Play edition of the device should be receiving Android 4.4 KitKat sometime during November. The firmware is said to be near the end of its testing phase. The Google Play edition of the HTC One runs the stock Android operating system released by Google, without HTC's Sense interface layered on top.
