T-Mobile customers finally have a shot at one of the hottest smartphones on the market this coming holiday season. Starting Thursday, consumers can head over to T-Mobile's online store to pick up a Google Nexus 5 handset.

The cost of one through T-Mobile, however, can be quite steep. T-Mobile is offering the 16GB Google Nexus 5 for $450 upfront, or for $42 down and subsequent monthly payments of $17 for two years, which adds up to $450. Remember, T-Mobile does not do contracts anymore, although there will be a penalty for backing out of phone payments before the device is fully paid off.

The offer is web-only for the time being. T-Mobile plans on releasing the Nexus 5 in its brick-and-mortar retail stores Nov. 20.

Bear in mind that Sprint also sells the Nexus 5, for a lot cheaper, except it comes with a two-year agreement with the carrier. The best bet for those looking for the best deal on a Nexus 5 would be the Google Play store, which sells the Nexus 5 for $350 (and $400 for the 32GB model), except stock shortages have caused delivery times to lag, meaning long wait times. Paying an extra $100 to have a Nexus 5, with no contract attached, may not seem like such a bad deal for the impatient Nexus 5 enthusiast.

The Google Nexus 5 sports a 4.95-inch full HD 1080p display capable of 445 pixels per inch, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The Nexus 5 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box and supports LTE bandwidths.
