Google and Microsoft saw gains in their smartphone operating system market shares while Apple's iOS encountered a slip in France.
According to Kantar Worldpanel, Google Android was able to maintain its top position as the No. 1 smartphone operating system in France. Android increased its market share by 5.9 percentage points between the three months ending in September 2012 and the same period this year.

Android concluded September 2013 with 68.2 percent, which is up from the 62.3 percent last year.
The Android platform saw the highest smartphone operating system market share increase, based on Kantar Worldpanel's data, although Microsoft's Windows Phone was not far behind.
Windows Phone finally entered double-digit territory. The Microsoft smartphone operating system saw an increase of 5.5 percentage points from the 5.2 percent it garnered during the three months ending in September 2012. Windows Phone finished September this year with 10.7 percent.
Although Windows Phone saw an increase, it was not enough to take Apple's second place.
Apple's iOS maintained second place despite falling by 0.5 percentage points. iOS finished the three-month period ending in September 2013 with 15 percent of the market share. Apple's smartphone platform previously accounted for 15.5 percent last year.
The smartphone operating system platform with the highest loss during the three-month period ending in September 2013 was BlackBerry. With a loss of 2.7 percentage points, BlackBerry accounted for 4.7 percent of the market share. BlackBerry previously represented 7.4 percent of the smartphone operating system market share, which was third place in France.
