Microsoft released its monthly security bulletin for the Internet Explorer browser and a "Critical" label has been issued.

According to Microsoft, 10 vulnerabilities were privately reported to the Redmond-based organization about Internet Explorer.

Of the reported vulnerabilities, the "most severe" includes a remote code execution when the Internet Explorer user enters a "specially crafted webpage."

"An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user," noted Microsoft in Security Update 2888505. "Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights."

The security update has been categorized as "Critical" for Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11 on affected Windows clients.

A "Critical" label represents a "vulnerability whose exploitation could allow code execution without user interaction. These scenarios include self-propagating malware (e.g. network worms), or unavoidable common use scenarios where code execution occurs without warnings or prompts," according to the bulletin.

However, the security is labeled as "Important" for Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10 on Windows servers. For Internet Explorer 11 users, the security update is "Moderate."

According to Microsoft, most of its customers have an automatic update enabled in their systems, so they will not need to take action since the security update will download automatically. Customers who do not have automatic updating will have to check the update manually.
