Apple's second-generation iPad mini quietly made its worldwide launch Nov. 12.
The iPad mini with Retina Display, or the iPad mini 2, was first announced by Apple during a special keynote event on Oct. 22. The tablet with the 7.9-inch screen was confirmed along with its 9.7-inch counterpart, the iPad Air.

Unlike the iPad Air, the iPad mini 2 was not given a specific release date. Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phillip Schiller simply stated the iPad mini 2 would be available in "late November."
An internal document leaked, however, as seen via 9to5Mac, revealed the 7.9-inch tablet would debut on Nov. 12 across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States.
"It would also be unprecedented for Apple to announce the release date for a major product launch to support staff, not via media outlets, its official website, or a press release," reported 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman. "It would also be surprising to see Apple launch the iPad mini on the 12th, when the company warned of potential constraints and said the product would arrive 'later' in November."
Nov. 12 has arrived, and the iPad mini 2 is officially available for purchase as seen on the official Apple website.
When it comes to prices, the 16GB iPad mini 2 is priced at $399, $499 for the 32GB model, $599 for the 64GB model, and $699 for the 128GB model. The prices with cellular technology will increase the price of the second-generation tablet. With the launch of the iPad mini 2, the original 7.9-inch tablet will get a price decrease to $299 for the 16GB model and $429 with cellular data from either AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
The iPad mini 2 is the first 7.9-inch tablet by Apple to sport Retina Display with 2,048x1,536 pixels and a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. The second-generation iPad mini runs twice as fast as the original tablet due to the 64-bit A7 chip and can last up to 10 hours of battery life. The iPad mini 2 utilizes a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1080p HD video.
