Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners rejoice! It's been months since the device has received a new version of Android, and it looks like Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is finally ready to jump out the gate.
The upgrade hasn't commenced rolling out over the air, but it looks like the firmware is lurking in some service centers. According to one lucky Indian Galaxy Note 2 owner, he was able to receive upgrade N7100XXUEMJ9 (Android 4.3 Jelly Bean) from a local service center. It is unclear how many local Samsung service centers carry the firmware and whether the case is the same for all models of the Galaxy Note 2. The firmware carries a build date of Oct. 31, leading many to believe that it is the final build.
Seeing as how the build seems to already be out in the wild, over-the-air rollouts should soon commence in regions around the world. As usual, the process will be carried out in batches, so even when Samsung does begin the official over-the-air push, not everybody will receive it at the same time.
An official changelog is still unavailable, although it should contain many of the same features found in the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update along with new S-Pen features from the Galaxy Note 3. Android 4.3 also brings Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, a requirement for full connectivity with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
U.S. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners should begin seeing the upgrade by the end of November. According to a leaked Best Buy internal document, Sprint and AT&T will release the update Nov. 20, followed by Verizon Nov. 29 and T-Mobile Dec. 2.
