Apple's iOS platform encountered the most growth among the top mobile operating systems in Australia, based on new market share figures.
According to Kantar Worldpanel, iOS saw an increase of its smartphone platform by seven percentage points during the three months ending in September 2013 compared to the same period in 2012.

With the increase, iOS finished September this year with 32.9 percent of the Australian smartphone operating system market share, up from 25.9 percent during the three-month period ending in September 2012.
Although iOS encountered the highest market share percentage growth, it was not enough to topple Google Android. iOS maintained second place.
Android finished another period as the top mobile operating system in Australia despite losing double-digit figures during the three-month period ending in September 2012 to 2013.
By the end of September 2013, Android lost 10.8 percentage points. Despite the drop, which was the highest lost calculated by Kantar Worldpanel, Android upheld its first place position with 55.3 percent, down from 66.1 percent last year.
Microsoft's Windows Phone platform saw the second highest increase of the smartphone operating systems in Australia. The Microsoft smartphone operating system finished September 2013 with 9.3 percentage points, which is an increase of 4.7 percentage points compared to the same period in 2012.
BlackBerry finally has some good news in the smartphone market. The BlackBerry mobile operating system nearly saw an increase of one percentage point, but instead saw 0.9 percent. By the end of September this year, BlackBerry's smartphone platform finished with 1.3 percent of the market share.
