Microsoft Surface Pro Problems: Windows 8.1 Operating System Issues with Surface's Wedge Mouse Reported by Tablet Owners [Video]

The download of Microsoft's latest operating system might have led to problems for Surface tablet owners.

As seen on the Community forums for the Surface, one Surface with Windows 8 Pro owners shared their story regardless the tablet's mouse.

"I have a Surface Pro 128 GB! The Wedge mouse has always worked on it until I upgraded to 8.1. I tried everything including turning off and on the Bluetooth wireless," wrote KhaledHikmat. "Occasionally it sees the mouse and says ready to pair...when I try pairing it says 'that didn't work."

KhaledHikmat noted that a USB mouse has worked and could serve as an alternative to the problem, but it's a mechanism the Surface owner doesn't want to do.

James Vinyard assisted to provide a solution, stating "Try turning the mouse off and remove it from the Bluetooth devices and then turn the mouse back on and pair it. It should work then."

"But it does not appear in the Bluetooth devices... in fact, my 'Manage Bluetooth Devices' looks very flaky...it keeps on searching for Bluetooth devices...never stops," responded KhaledHikmat. "[Also] sometimes it discovers a 'Mouse' for a few seconds and [then] it removes it from the list...other times it does discover my Wedge but the pairing does not work!"

Other Surface owners have also chimed in about the Wedge mouse not working such as SJC770, who added, "I have also found that my Wedge mouse no longer works with W8.1. The Bluetooth does find the mouse asks to pair, then comes up with a dialog box 'That didn't work, Please may sure your device is still discoverable.' I have tried various times, new batteries, restarting the mouse etc."

Vinyard stated the issue might be the mouse and not the Bluetooth connection. He noted users should connect their mouse on another computer if the device would be responsive then.

"That would make sure that it is the mouse," wrote Vinyard. "Also, if you can find a different Bluetooth mouse and try it on the tablet"

If the problems persist, Surface owners can contact the Microsoft Technical Support.
