Google's Nexus 5 is finally available for purchase, and just as expected, grabbing one isn't going to be easy. Those interested in buying a Nexus 5 will have to wait at least two to three weeks before it will leave the warehouse.
A look at the Google Play store on Saturday, Nov. 2, shows that the 16GB Nexus 5 won't leave the warehouse for at least three or four weeks. The 32GB Nexus 5 stock seems to be a little higher as the device will leave the warehouse in two to three weeks. The timeframes applies to both the black and white models.
The unlocked 16GB Nexus 5 retails for $349 through the Google Play store, while the unlocked 32GB variant runs $399. The Google Play store is currently the only retailer to offer the Nexus 5, although it will become available through carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint in the coming weeks. Verizon is the only major national U.S. wireless service provider to pass on the device.
The Google Nexus 5, while not much different than the Nexus 4 in terms of looks, packs some meaty components under the hood. The phone comes equipped with a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB RAM. The rear-facing camera takes stills at 8 megapixels and the front-facing lens shoots at 1.3 megapixels. Google has included LTE support this time around, along with NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The Nexus 5 runs Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box.
Google's Nexus devices are popular with Android enthusiasts because they receive new Android updates straight from Google, without having to wait for OEMs and carriers to approve and distribute.
