The newest piece of Minecraft DLC for the Xbox 360 version of the game will bring together the game with one of the most popular games ever to appear on the console, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. This news was announced to Bethesda Blog ahead of the Minecon annual fan convention in Orlando, Florida, where the new DLC will be playable.
The DLC will be available for $3.99, and will feature several Skyrim-themed items and locations that are sure to excite fans of the open-world RPG as well as Minecraft fans.
Whiterun, Riverwood and Bleak falls Barrow will be pre-made worlds available for exploration in Minecraft, though the size of these maps will be scaled down due to the limits of the map size of the game. In addition to these worlds a Skyrim themed texture set will be included in the DLC. The DLC will give players a Skyrim influenced menu and inventory, giving an added aesthetic change for players who want to explore these new areas.
For those looking to dress up their Minecraft avatar as a Dragonborn or other Skyrim characters from the game, the Minecraft DLC will also have 40 different characters skins for the game, all based on different Skyrim characters. Finally, over 20 songs from the Skyrim soundtrack will be imported into Minecraft so players will get the full experience of playing Skyrim while creating their own buildings and structures in the game.
It will be interesting to see how many Xbox 360 owners buy this DLC, and what sort of things players will build with these new Skyrim textures and other items that make it so players can recreate that game within Minecraft. This is not the first Mash-Up DLC that Minecraft has released, as a Mash-Up DLC featuring Mass Effect 3 was previously released for the Xbox 360 as well.
Those looking to try out this content at Minecon, there is some restrictions to the demo of the DLC, as Bethesda explains in their FAQ post attached to the announcement for this new expansion pack:
"...it includes everything so that players can see everything before they buy. However players won't be able to save the creations they make with the trial version with unless they purchase the pack before they exit. They can also only look and not play with the skins that are part of the pack."
Look out for more news about this DLC as it is officially released in the future.
