Android 4.4 KitKat has been announced, and Verizon and Sprint Galaxy S4 owners have received their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates, but it'll take a couple more weeks before any other major U.S. Galaxy S4 variants receive Android 4.3, according to a recenlty-leaked document.
AT&T is currently scheduled to roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for its Galaxy S4s Nov. 13. T-Mobile will then follow on Nov. 18 with a rollout of its own. The dates, while not official Samsung comments, come from a recently leaked Best Buy internal document thanks to Geeks.com. So far, the document has held up, as Verizon released its update first around Oct. 29, and Sprint did so the next day, on the Oct. 30.
Of course, there's always bound to be some eager beavers, and lucky for them, an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean build for the Galaxy S4 has leaked. Sadly, it's only for the AT&T model, but given that the official rollouts for AT&T and T-Mobile are only a couple weeks away and that Android flashing should only be done by those with experience, most users would do best to simply wait.
Android 4.3 Jelly won't bring a ton of new features, although it will boost performance with TRIMS support. Several other under-the-hood tweaks have been made, as well as more customizable options, but other than that, Android 4.3 isn't too special. Those interested in buying a Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be pleased to know that Android 4.3 brings Bluetooth 4.0 LE support to the Galaxy S4, meaning the two devices will be able to enjoy full connectivity.
