A performance analytical firm has concluded Apple's newest 9.7-inch tablet has the best performance in comparison to previous iPads.
According to Primate Labs' founder John Poole, the iPad Air earned high scores with Geekbench 3, which is the cross-platform processor benchmark by the analysis firm.

Primate Labs noted the A7 processor on the iPad Air runs 100MHz faster than the A7 processor on the iPhone 5s.
"It's not clear if the iPad Air processor runs at a higher speed thanks to a larger battery (providing more power), a larger chassis (providing better cooling), or some combination of the two. I expect the new iPad mini's A7 processor will run at 1.4 GHz as well," wrote Poole.
In comparison to the iPad 4, the iPad Air is 80 percent faster, which is approximately twice the speed increase Apple promised during its keynote presentation on Oct. 22.
While the iPad 4 is discontinued on Apple's official website, the iPad 2 still lives on. Primate Labs noticed the iPad Air is five times as fast than the iPad 2 despite the $100 price difference.
"I do not understand why Apple kept the iPad 2 around, especially at a $399 price point," noted the Primate Labs founder. "What market are they targeting?"
Overall, Poole concluded the iPad Air is a "great upgrade" compared to the fourth-generation iPad.
The iPad Air features a 9.7-inch screen with Retina Display at 2,048x1,536 resolution. The new Apple tablet is available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB models, but doesn't offer a microSD card slot. The iPad Air's rear-facing camera has 5 megapixels at 2,592x1,944 pixels, and the front-facing camera has 1.2 megapixels. The tablet utilizes the A7 dual-core 1.3GHz Cyclone processor and runs on the iOS 7 mobile operating system.
