Owners of the Sony Xperia L will be happy to know that they can finally snag an upgrade from Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. That's right folks, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean has finally landed.

Sony Mobile pushed out build 15.3.A.0.26, which includes Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, over the air starting Oct. 29. Users have reported in that the update affects both C2104 and C2105 models of the Xperia L. As with all over-the-air updates, not every region will receive the upgrade at the same time. Instead, rollouts tend to happen in batches, so be sure to check often.

According to commenters on Xperia Blog, Xperia L owners can expect the following:

"- New home screen UI, you can add up to 7 window panes now.
- Add more widgets in homescreen and lockscreen now.
- Bug fixes and performance enhancement.
- Superior auto mode (auto scene recognition) and Burst Mode feature added in Camera interface. Camera is certainly improved a lot in this update.
- Updated Sony Media apps.
- Small apps accessible from homescreen.
- Improved search and app sorting now.
- New Keyboard added.
- Transparent dock at the bottom part on homescreen.
- False memory notification bug is rectified.
- Day Dream feature added in display settings."

Needless to say, the Xperia L isn't one of Sony's top priorities, so don't expect too many gamechanging updates like this one in the future. It's unclear if Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is in the works, and there's little chance that Android 4.4 KitKat will land on the device, but until Sony says otherwise, at least the Xperia L will have Android 4.2.2 - something higher profile devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 never got.
