The highly anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 isn't too far off, but for eager beavers who just can't wait a few more weeks, a new build has leaked onto the Internet and is available for download.
Once again, the build comes to us via SamMobile, which has had a storied history leaking Samsung firmwares. Thanks to an anonymous insider, the folks over at SamMobile have made firmware N7100XXUEMJ5 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 model GT-N7100. It seems that Samsung is testing out new builds every couple days now that the actual rollout date is approaching, and firmware N7100XXUEMJ5 carries a build date of Oct. 16.
The firmware is not official, and carries all the usual warning labels with it, but for those still interested, the files can be downloaded here. Remember, unless you have experience flashing Android devices, it's best to simply wait for the official release.
The update includes a number of features from the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3, as well as an updated KNOX security suite, and Samsung Wallet. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will also finally allow the Galaxy Note 2 to interact with the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, which requires Bluetooth 4.0 LE (only found in Android 4.3) for full connectivity.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to begin receiving the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in November. A recently leaked Best Buy internal document reveals that AT&T and Sprint should push out the upgrade Nov. 20, followed by Verizon on Nov. 29 and T-Mobile on Dec. 2. International models should expect the update a little before or around the same time.
