It's not just the prospect of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 handset that has Nexus junkies excited anymore - there are whispers of an LTE Nexus 4 that are beginning to gather steam. The latest piece of evidence comes from a recent Bluetooth SIG filing.
It seems the folks over at Endgadget managed to spot a Bluetooth SIG filing for an LG-E960 (the model number of the Nexus 4) with the tantalizing tag of "LGE LTE Mobile Phone." It's not much, and there's practically no other evidence of the LTE Nexus 4 existing, but it seems to have gotten the technosphere convinced there's something of the nature on the horizon.
Of course, there are numerous rebuttals, including the fact that the Bluetooth listing contains some information pertinent only to old Nexus 4s. It's unclear whether the filing is for an LTE Nexus 4, and until Google confirms the facts, everything is up in the air.
The Nexus 4 was Google's 2012 Nexus handset, and the smartphone rocketed off to impressive sales. Still, the handset lacked LTE capabilities, leading many to clamor for its inclusion in next-gen Nexus devices. It's pretty clear the Nexus 5 will have LTE, but new reports indicate that whenever Google does announce the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat, it will also show off an LTE Nexus 4. Google is expected to make that announcement before November swings around.
The LTE Nexus 4 will reportedly feature the exact same specs as the original Nexus 4, albeit with LTE support. Supposedly, the 16GB LTE Nexus 4 will retail for $299, while the 32GB LTE Nexus 4 will go for $349.
