It's weaker, but smaller, and it's finally been confirmed for the United States. Samsung announced Wednesday that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will be landing Stateside November.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 will go on sale through major U.S. carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint starting in November. Pricing details have not been divulged, although it's hard to see the phone going for a hefty price tag. AT&T recently released the Galaxy S3 Mini for $0.99 with a two-year contract, so it's possible to see the Galaxy S4 Mini sliding into that price range. Exact release dates are also pending.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is essentially a smaller version of the Galaxy S4, sporting a 4.3-inch screen instead of a 5-inch screen. It's not only the size that's different, however — the portability comes at a cost.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is by no means a high-end smartphone like its bigger brother. Instead, the phone is a mid-range handset geared at budget consumers willing to forgo the latest and greatest. The 4.3-inch display is qHD, not 1080p Full HD like most flagships nowadays. Underneath the hood, the Galaxy S4 Mini features a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1,900mAh battery. Samsung is catering to America's "more is better" mantra and bumping up the internal storage to 16GB of onboard memory that is expandable via a microSD.
