Avast! It's finally here! Samsung has finally started rolling out the highly-anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S4 smartphone. The first lucky recipient? The Galaxy S4 LTE model GT-I9505.
Reports indicate that the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update is currently available for download over-the-air in Germany. Other regions should follow soon, and as with all over-the-air updates be warned: these upgrades tend to be pushed out in batches, so not everybody will get it at the same time. Galaxy S4 owners can manually check for the update by going to Settings > About Device > Software updates.
Samsung has not released an official changelog, but according to Samsung-centric website SamMobile, these are the following changes in Android 4.3:
"- OpenGL 3.0 Support
- GALAXY GEAR Support
- TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
- ANT+ Support
- Samsung KNOX Implementation (KNOX bootloader and dedicated application)
- Samsung Wallet comes pre-loaded
- Improved RAM management
- Improved Display color reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before)
- Improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag)
- New Samsung Keyboard
- New Samsung Browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more)
- New Reading Mode (Optimizes display for reading, used by only a few specific applications)
- New Camera firmware
- Minor UI tweaks (Contacts app, Flashlight Widget, dialog boxes, etc.)"
Other Galaxy S4 models should also soon receive their Android 4.3 upgrade, and if carriers in the United States don't take too long to approve the firmware, it should land Stateside in the coming weeks as well.
