Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet on Verizon's network can now snag a new firmware update that brings a couple nifty new features including the ability to move apps to an SD card.
The firmware update, baseband I915VRBMH3, should be available for download over the air. As usual, not every Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will get it at the same time, since over-the-air rollouts tend to happen in batches, and it's always best to have the device charged and tethered to a Wi-Fi connection.
The update comes with three major changes, according to Verizon. For starters, users will now be able to move apps to the SD card in order to free up space on the onboard internal drive. This also means that apps can be launched from the SD card, a boon to those who have pretty much maxed out the space on their 16GB or 32GB Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
The patch also allows for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to accept an Ethernet connection for the first time. Granted, a special adapter needs to be purchased, but a quick glance around the market reveals that no tablet comes with an Ethernet port, and while it's hard to imagine the usefulness of a tablet limited by a chord, it's still a nice option.
Last but not least, Verizon has included its Verizon Messages Application on board. There probably won't be too many who use this one, but it's finally there for those who want to.
