HTC recently announced its One Max flagship phablet, but the company also gave owners of older HTC devices something to look forward to: Sense 5.5. While it's pretty been a given, HTC has finally officially confirmed Sense 5.5 for the HTC One.
The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer stated that the HTC One would receive Sense 5.5 in the coming weeks, indicating that the upgrade should begin rolling out by November at the latest. The HTC One Max is currently the only device running Sense 5.5.
Sense 5.5 brings a number of improvements to the user interface's content aggregation system. BlinkFeed gets some new options, including the ability to source RSS feeds. The gallery app has a new makeover, and users should be able to create their own animated GIFS as well.
Sense 5.5 should release alongside Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in a November upgrade package for certain European and Asian HTC Ones before anywhere else. American HTC Ones are currently in the process of getting Android 4.3, but the earlier release comes at a cost: Sense 5.5 won't land Stateside until a later, separate update.
For those with HTC Ones in America, carriers Sprint and AT&T have already rolled out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on schedule. T-Mobile is expected to release its update imminently, and Verizon is on track to do so before the end of October.
There's no official word on what other HTC devices other than the One and One Mini will see Sense 5.5.
