The WWE's newest entry into its annual video game franchise, WWE 2K14, will be out on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 29, and it is the first game to be published by Take-Two after THQ went bankrupt. Take-Two happened to obtain the franchise during a milestone year for the WWE; Wrestlemania 30 takes place in April 2014. In honor of that, the 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode was conceived, and IGN has an extended preview of what to expect from the mode.

The mode will have 46 different historical matches for players, with each Wrestlemania being represented by at least one match. Much like the Attitude Era mode in WWE 13, players can get through the match just by winning, or can complete several bonus historical objectives that will unlock bonus content. For example, during the epic Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels match at Wrestlemania 24, players can recreate Michael's attempt at a moonsault on Flair by the announcer table by leaning Flair on the table. This scene will happen automatically in a cutscene that mimics the real-life match as closely as possible.

Each match in 30 Years of Wrestlemania will have similar moments, and it is up to users to decide if they would rather focus on winning the match by any means necessary or if they want to recreate the highlights from these historical wrestling matches.

Of course, it would not be Wrestlemania without The Undertaker, and the Phenom mode allows users to defend the wrestler's undefeated streak at the event, or try to be the first to defeat the superstar. However, if players match up against The Undertaker, his difficulty setting will be higher than even the highest difficulty setting available for users to use, plus he will use his supernatural powers to shift matches in his favor. An example of this is The Undertaker turning off the lights when the player pins him, only for the wrestler to appear behind the user ready to continue the match.

The WWE Universe mode will return in the game as well, and users can create new rivalries and Pay-Per-View events with a variety of new options to play around with. The Create a Superstar mode has been expanded as well, and players will be able to use existing superstars as a template for their creations to make modified versions of the wrestlers in the WWE roster.
