Android 4.4 KitKat is still veiled in a shroud of mystery, but that hasn't stopped tenacious tech junkies from piecing together the operating system from little bits. While no features have been officially announced for the next Android version, it looks like Android 4.4 KitKat will bring changes to both the Downloads user interface and Location Settings.
The two rumors come fresh out of the technosphere and imply that Android 4.4 KitKat will finally bring some aesthetic changes to the Android interface, which has stayed relatively the same from Android 4.1 to Android 4.3.
As you can see from the alleged Android 4.4 KitKat screenshot above, the Downloads interface will be receiving a makeover bringing it more in line with Google's new image. The white background and icon design are very similar to Google's new look in its Chrome and productivity mobile apps such as Gmail.
The Locations settings have also apparently been streamlined, with the "Location Access" screen now simply called "Location." The revamped interface will give users three options instead of two, allowing them to choose whether they want Location access to be granted to GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks; GPS and Wi-Fi only; or just GPS.
Bear in mind that all of this information is unconfirmed, and even if they are credible leaks, nothing is set in stone until Google officially rolls out the operating system. Softwares change throughout development and the final product might be slightly, if not completely, different than what we know so far.
Google is rumored to unveil Android 4.4 KitKat to the public alongside the highly-anticipated Nexus 5 smartphone at an event Oct. 15.
