Google's Android platform became the sole mobile operating system to see an increase in the market share in China.
Based on the latest figures provided by Kantar Worldpanel, Android saw a market share increase of 9.2 percent during the three months ending in August 2013 from the same period in 2012.

Android finished August 2013 with 72.4 percent of the mobile operating system market share, which is up from the 63.2 percent the Google smartphone platform garnered by the end of August 2012.
Android's first place finish is more than 50 percent ahead of the second-place titleholder, which went to Apple's iOS. Despite the 51.6 percent separation between Android, iOS finished comfortably with 20.8 percent. The Apple mobile operating system, however, saw a drop in the market share statistics by 2.7 percent when comparing to the same three-month period last year.
Microsoft's Windows Phone platform also dipped during the three months ending in August 2013 by 2.6 percent. During the three months ending in August 2012, Windows Phone accounted for 4.7 percent of the Chinese smartphone operating system market share, but by 2013, it ended with 2.1 percent.
BlackBerry rounded out the top four smartphone operating system platforms. By the end of August 2012, BlackBerry accounted for 0.2 percent of the market share, however, it lost 0.2 percent by the end of August 2012. Therefore, BlackBerry finished the three months ending in August this year with 0.0 percent of the market share.
